This documentary offers an original portrayal of the life of Queen Elizabeth II from a totally new perspective: through the most intense, prodigious, and revealing photographic portraits of her, symbols of 20th century history, contextualized by the very photographers who captured Her Majesty during her long life of service – Brian Aris, Jason Bell, Julian Calder, Chris Levine, David Montgomery, John Swannell and through the diaries of Cecil Beaton.
I preferred to shoot their ‘portraits’ in the studio, with a pictorial light, in a black “box”, portraying them dressed in black. Their stories, their emotions in recalling them, their experiences with the Queen which they shared with me.

Charles Dance will embody the great legends of photography like Cecil Beaton, Bryan Adams, Lord Snowdon, Jousuf Karsch, also through their own words, written in diaries like Cecil Beaton’s memoires.
